CLAINES LANE UPDATE

CLAINES LANE UPDATE

WCFC ONLINE2 Apr 2020 - 09:00

Update from Worcester City FC Board

First of all, we would like to start by extending our best wishes to everyone reading this. Covid-19 has brought about hugely challenging and uncertain times for all of us. Our sincerest thoughts go out to everyone effected and sincerest thanks to those who are keeping society ticking.

Claines Lane

Despite the current climate, our work goes on to bring Worcester City FC home for next season. We have developed a positive working relationship with the Worcestershire FA as we have progressed over the last few months. With the help of external advisors, we aim to finalise an agreement for our tenure at Claines Lane in due course. We have every confidence this will be completed soon and we look forward to announcing it.

Many who have driven past the site at Claines Lane recently will have seen it quickly taking shape. We hold regular meetings with the WFA to receive updates on the site’s progress and there are no concerns regarding its scheduled completion. There are no concerns that the ground will not be ready for us next season.

We are working with the WFA to bring the ground up to our grading. Recent talks have converged on the playing surface at Claines Lane and we are working closely to explore what we can contribute to improving it alongside the WFA’s new maintenance regime which has begun. The WFA have been very accommodating towards our requirements and we look forward to making Claines Lane our new home back in Worcester and being a part of the football ecosystem there.

The Club’s Financial Position

We want to ease supporters’ concerns about the club’s financial position in the current climate. It is desperately sad to see already numerous football clubs have folded because of the effect the Covid-19 pandemic has had on football outside the professional game. Fortunately, we are in a rather unique position where we have sufficient cash reserves to get the club through to next season largely unscathed. As a Board, we have no concerns over the short to medium term viability of the football club provided income streams are maintained as planned.

GoldBond Lottery

For the time being, the Goldbond Lottery collectors have ceased collecting door to door because of the risk of the Corona Virus. Instead, we have made it possible for those who pay in cash to signup by direct debit safely and securely via our website. It is also possible for new members to join from just £1 a week - For full details visit: GOLD BOND LOTTERY.

Next Season

Despite a lot of hard work being ahead of us, the club returning home to Worcester next season in a renovated facility will give us a new lease of life to kick on. Being based at Claines Lane will provide us with fertile ground for revenue building opportunities that were simply not possible whilst in exile.

Over the summer months we’ll be working hard to ensure that Worcester City FC is a financial success next season. In keeping with this, we are also committed to making football exciting again and building a sustained and growing interest around Worcester City that’s been missing for some time. Inline with this, we are pleased to announce we will be providing our management team with an increased budget for next season that’s capable of building a promotion vying side within our means.

Our intention is for this to give a clearer picture on our plans and outlook going forwards. Undoubtedly there will be questions, and we will provide further updates as they develop.
Keep the faith, stay safe and lookout for one another.
