'Thank you'

To all:

After two unbelievable years at this football club, sadly, the time has now come where I look to move out and away from football. After 15 years and however many yellow cards, I feel the time has arrived for me to move on to pastures new.

Firstly, I cannot start without mentioning Chris Cornes and thank him openly for everything he has done for me and the lads over my two years at the club. I have never played for such a respected manager. An unbelievable manager, an even better person and I will forever be in debt for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had under him.

Rowey, Clayts, Tom, AJ, Kev, George, Nicole & Jamie are all equally as important to our success as much as the players and again, I thank them all.

Simon Lancaster, Tim Harris, Steve Goode, Kev Preece, Rich Widdowson, Lee Jackson, the board, the volunteers on match day, the list is endless - the work you do behind the scenes, a lot of which isn’t spoken about enough. Thank you for giving me opportunities over the last 2 years that I could never have imagined. This club is in exceptional hands, led by people who have a genuine affection for it, and that is incredibly special.

My teammates, wow.. There is only one thing better than achieving what we have in the last two years, and that is to achieve it with a group of players like we have. You all test my patience almost every day, but I would do the last two years again in a heartbeat. To do it alongside the notorious ‘Evesham Bomb Squad’ has been special. I have been fortunate enough to share a football pitch with Elliott Keightley & Jordan Lymn for 5 years, Calvin Dinsley for the majority, and we (unfortunately!) picked up Kyle Belmonte on the way.

To pick up friends who, before joining the club, I didn’t even know, shows how close-knit we are; none of which emphasised more than Elliott Hartley & Logan Stoddart, both of whom aren’t only teammates but also incredibly close friends now. Every single person in the current dressing room is superb. I wish them all the very best for the future.

Finally, to you, the supporters. What a ride! I have loved my time here. I, like the gaffer, am big on building relationships between the players and the supporters, and I truly believe alongside our successes, we have done that.

This season has been tough. The step-up in quality between the two leagues we have participated in has been huge, but to finish with, hopefully, two knockout playoff games, is a fantastic start to the next chapter of the club. For those of you who have been there for us, week in week out, through rain and shine - I hope you have enjoyed the journey. It has been a rollercoaster, but we have created memories that’ll live with us all forever.

To have achieved what we have... a league title, a vase semi-final, 4 trophies and a Hellenic League Cup final in two years is incredible. I am incredibly proud to have been able to represent this fantastic club in this historic chapter, and even more so as captain.

I look forward to a Saturday at Sixways, catching up with teammates and supporters, and barrating some officials for old time's sake!

Once again, I thank every single person involved at this Football Club for the memories and successes we’ve had over the last two years. I have had the time of my life, and will be forever proud.

Up The City!

Thank you & best wishes,

Skip.
