City fall to defeat on the road

Two quick fire goals from Wolverhampton Casuals saw the hosts come from behind at Brinsford Lane yesterday evening to commit City to defeat.

The Blue And Whites took the lead on 70 minutes. Dylan Hart broke free and looked certain to score. The Cassies keeper saved Hart's attempted lobbed effort before the ball cannoned off the arm of defender Hurley. The referee judged it to be handball, booking the defender and giving Hart a second chance from the spot. The City forward drove the ball low to the keepers right to claim the lead.

The lead only lasted 2 minutes. Greer broke the line and found himself on the end of a long looping ball. He hoisted the ball high over Whitcombe to perfectly nestle in the back of the City net.

The hosts had their tails in the air and took the lead only 4 minutes later. A low cross was driven in from the City left to the front post. Marselia got in front of his man driving the ball low past Whitcombe.

The defeat holds City 7 points ahead of Uttoxeter Town who occupy 19th position, in the drop zone, whilst pulling Casuals 5 points clear.

The Blue And Whites go again on Saturday where they welcome AFC Wulfrunians to Claines Lane for a 3pm kick off, where we will be celebrating International Womens Day.

We invite all of our women supporters to this game with FREE ENTRY.

As a club, we want to open our doors to women as a welcoming and accepting home, inclusive of all people. By offering free entry to the match, we hope to demonstrate that Worcester City is a safe place for women, and we encourage you to become part of our Faithful.
