Worcester City Football Club are delighted to announce that Manager Tim Harris has captured the signing of exciting left-sided player Lucas Powell. Lucas, a product of the Birmingham City academy, made his debut on Saturday at Claines Lane.

Last season, Lucas made a handful of appearances for Gresley Rovers before moving to Barwell FC, making 29 appearances for the Step 3 side.

On joining the club, Lucas said: "I am delighted to be here. I've heard good things from a few of the lads, so it was an easy decision."

Speaking on the signing, Harris said: "With Sam Whitton injured against Malvern and Jamie Smith not available due to his work commitments at present, the need to get some cover on our left side was of paramount importance.

"Lucas can play as left-back or the left side of midfield and will be an ideal option. He made his debut and played his first 90 minutes in searing heat on Saturday where he showed some good promise, in what was a very poor display by the team."

The signing of Lucas was enabled by the Teambuilder Fund. The Teambuilder is a crucial fundraiser for the football club, raising an additional £7000 towards the first team playing budget over the past 12 months, allowing Tim Harris to bring in new signings as and when required.
