Another action-packed weekend for Worcester City’s youth teams saw plenty of impressive performances across the age groups. Here’s how our teams fared:
Mercian Under-10s
The U10s put in a determined display but fell to a 3-1 defeat against Halas. Despite facing challenging conditions both on and off the pitch, the team maintained their composure and stuck to the values we instill in them. The future remains bright for this group as they continue to develop in the right way.
Mercian Under-9s City Blues
The U9 City Blues continued their remarkable winning streak, securing their 12th consecutive victory with a 3-2 win over Rock Sports. Despite not being as clinical as usual, the team created plenty of chances and put in a solid performance, limiting the opposition’s opportunities throughout.
Under-13s
A thrilling match saw the U13s progress to the quarter-finals after a dramatic last-minute screamer from Lucian Griffin secured a 3-2 victory over Star Soccer. A fantastic effort from the team, showing heart and determination to get over the line.
Under-14s Whites (Girls)
The U14s Whites maintained their unbeaten record with an emphatic 7-1 win away at Catshill Lionesses. Despite difficult conditions on a small pitch, the team stuck to their playing principles and produced some excellent goals.
Under-12 Blues
The U12 Blues faced a long trip to York for their cup quarter-final, with many of the squad staying overnight to add to the experience. The team put in a superb performance, dominating for large spells but unable to find the breakthrough. Fatigue set in late on, and they conceded five minutes from time, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat. Despite the result, it was a fantastic effort from the squad, and everyone can be proud of their display.
A huge well done to all our youth teams for their efforts this weekend.
