Worcester City hosted Bromsgrove Sporting at a cold, wet Dell in the Semi Finals of the County Cup, looking for a place in the Finals against either Halesowen or Stourport Swifts.
First Half
Frankly City didn't turn up until half way through the half. Sporting made the most of the absence and threw everything at the hosts' defence. City looked nervous but absorbed the pressure, which was unrelenting for the entire 45 minutes. By HT, the hosts had kept a clean sheet through sheer grit, determination and some incredible saves from Ben Clay in goal. 0-0.
Second Half
Spurred on by a half time talk inspired by Fergie and his hair dryer, City started much more brightly. They kept hold of the ball and started to get their passing game back. Soon they were pressing Sporting all over the pitch and it seemed inevitable that they'd score. They came close a few times but just couldn't convert. Towards the end of the game as penalties loomed, both sides were battling end to end for the chance to get that winning goal. It wasn't to be, ending 0-0.
Penalties
Each side took 5 penalties, Ben saved the first Sporting one. Unfortuantely we could only convert 3 whilst the vistors scored 4. Bromsgrove go through, we wish them luck in the Finals. 3-4
