Today Worcester city travelled to blues.
Overcast conditions and cold temperatures did nothing to stop some hot football being played by both teams.
This was a classic.
Worcester started well this week after some slow starts recently, playing through the thirds and pressing high up the pitch, and after a few minutes they took the lead from a neat finish from Charlie Lannie.
Birmingham though weren’t not going to be beaten easily, they equalised in the second quarter and were very dangerous on the quick counter.
Worcester played well all match and took the lead again through an unselfish lay-off by Ollie Piekarski which was nearly finished into the bottom corner by Jake Round.
This was a game that Worcester deserved fully to win from start to finish they were excellent but to the blues credit they hit two late goals to take the victory.
Worcester pressed until the final whistle and had 8 chances in the final quarter but were just unable to make any of them count.
Regardless of the result, Worcester walked away from this game better players. And that is the ultimate goal.
Well done to both teams.
