Clayton Hat trick in fine fight back

City u12's travelled to Sedgley for a tough fixture against West Bromich Albion Foundation and came away with the points after a great comeback

Q1
Due to the weather the fixture was switched and played on a very narrow 3G surface which meant the game started fast and frantic with little space. The home side looked dangerous on the break and they took the lead after a defensive mix up allowed their striker to nip in and slot home past the stranded Zac Watkins in goal. Five minutes later they doubled their lead with a smart break down the right and another cool finish. The city boys were struggling to get a foot hold on the game but right on the whistle for the first quarter the in form Ashton Doyle was put through on goal by Adam Willis and he continued his great form with a clinical finish

Q2
After an encouraging pep talk from the manager the city boys started the second quarter much stronger with Rafe Green up top pressing and chasing down every ball and the midfield gaining control chances soon started to happen. Kyle Clayton and Doyle combined in a great one two which ended in the Albion keeper pulling off a fine save. Clayton had another effort from outside the box which once again the home keeper superbly saved. City were now in control and although the home side were dangerous on the break any chance was dealt with by the solid Defence lead by Josh Francis. The home side did strike the bar with a great free kick towards the end of the quarter but city continued to make scoring opportunities but were unable to finish them. This was to haunt them as right at the end of the quarter as a fine first time strike on the turn by the left wing beat Watkins at his near post to put the home side 3-1 up

Q3
The 3rd quarter started with the pitch being covered by a freezing fog and the flood lights being switched on and this seemed to act as a catalyst for the city boys as they played their best football in the next 20 minutes. The whole team pressed every ball and swamped the Albion forcing them into errors. A miss kick from the advancing keeper fell to Clayton just inside the home teams half and he calmly slotted the ball into the empty net to make it 3-2. Green almost made it 3-3 when he was put in the clear with a ball from Joe Layland but once again he was denied by the excellent Albion keeper. However from the resulting Henry Guy corner defender Jay Bennet headed home to level the scores. Green saw his effort from outside the area just skim the bar as the visitors were in total control and they took the lead with a rasping drive from 30 yards from the excellent Clayton which gave the keeper no chance. Doyle made it 5-3 with another clinical finish after being put through by Green and Clayton added the 6th after some good work by Green. The attitude from all the boys in the third quarter was excellent and they fully deserved to take the quarter 5-0

Q4
The final quarter continued with the visitors pressing and dominating and Henry Guy just failed to finish at the far post and Green was unlucky when his shot trickled wide after some fine play down the right by Jake Brookes. Adam Willis struck a great free kick from 20 yards which hit the cross bar but the visitors were unable to add to their tally. The Albion rallied late on and were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box. Louis Hudson in the city goal denied the goal with a fine save to his right. The home side did complete the scoring in the final minute with a scrambled goal at the far post from a free kick
