Hat tricks for Brookes, Doyle and Clayton

City u12's entertained Sutton Coldfield in a JPL fixture and ran out comfortable winners

Q1
Playing into a strong wind the city boys soon got a foothold in the game with some neat one touch passing which the visitors were struggling to deal with. They took the lead in the 6th minute when Ash Doyle was put in the clear down the left by Rafe Green, Doyle cut in beating the full back but his shot was parried by the visiting keeper, unfortunately for the visitors it fell into the path of the impressive Jake Brookes who fired in the rebound. Brookes was causing all sorts of problems for the visitors down the right neatly linking with Joe Layland and Adam Willis and 4 minutes later it was 2-0 after Brookes played a superb ball across the box for Green to slot home. With city in total control of the game it was no surprise that they increased their lead in the 14th minute. A superb ball down the flanks by Jay Bennet found Doyle who cut inside beating the defence before sliding an inch perfect pass to Brookes who once again beat the scrambling keeper. Sutton, with the wind behind them couldn't find a way through the home defence of Josh Francis, Jay Bennet and Jo Layland. Sutton's efforts in the first quarter were restricted to three corners which were comfortable dealt with. Doyle and Guy had further efforts but the visitors keeper kept the score to 3-0

Q2
The second quarter continued in the same vain with the home side dominating the play all over the park and they increased their lead in the 25th minute with the best move of the game. Guy and Willis linked in the centre before playing in Green who's first touch pass found the marauding Brookes down the right flank and his first time cross found the advancing Doyle to make it 4-0. Two minutes later it was 5-0 when Doyle and Brookes combined and this time Green was on the end of the neat move slotting home. Brookes had a great chance to complete his hat trick but his first time shot hit the side netting and Doyle, through one on one was denied by a fine save from the visiting keeper. The visitors were battling hard and almost got some reward at the end of the quarter with a free kick but Zac Watkins in the home goal comfortable saved.

Q3
With the strong wind behind them the home side continued to press and create chances but the visitors to their credit never gave up and battled hard. Josh Sanders came close to scoring with a great long range strike. Clayton, now playing up top had an effort saved by the keeper before he crossed for Henry Guy to score his first and the teams 6th goal. Clayton grabbed the 7th picking up a loose ball and rounding the keeper in the 55th minute. The quarter ended with Brookes completing a deserved hat trick at the back post from a Clayton cross

Q4
The visitors must be given credit for the way that they persevered and kept their heads up against total pressure and they were close to a goal from a free kick but Louis Hudson in the home goal saved well in the 61st minute. A minute later Clayton grabbed his second to make in 9-0 with a close range tap in before completing his hat trick in the 67th minute with a thunderous drive into the top corner. Defender Hayden Russel made it 11 with a header from a corner before Doyle bagged his second from close range to make it 12. The scoring was completed in the 74th minute when Doyle completed his hat trick with a fine header from a Brookes corner.
A great all round passing game from all the boys
