Managers Laurence Helme and Luke Morris presided over the team.

Team Sheet
Goal Keeper – Ewan
Defenders - Joel & Ethan
Midfielders - Olly, Arlo, Will, Toby & Tom
Forwards - Fraser & Max

First Half
City started the first half on the front foot and they were applying all the early pressure.

In the 2nd minute, City created a goal scoring chance. City were attacking with Max in possession on the right corner of the Colts penalty area. Max proceeded to run across the top edge of the area, as one after another defender attempted to win the ball back, but Max was able to keep it using his quick feet as he dribbled around them. As he reached the middle of the D, Max passed the ball across the edge of the area to Toby who was in space on the left side of the area. Toby took an immediate shot at goal and looked destined to open the scoring for City, but his shot hit the crossbar and rebounded to the Colts keeper to catch.

In the 7th minute, City created a goal scoring chance. Joel had the ball in the centre circle and passed it to the wide right area for Olly to run onto, Olly controlled the ball and ran along the wing almost to the goal line, where he crossed the ball into the area. Fraser was waiting in the centre of the penalty area, he intercepted the cross and took an immediate shot at goal which looked destined to open the scoring for City, but his shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.

In the 11th minute, City created a goal scoring chance. Ethan won the ball from a Colts player in the middle of the pitch and played the ball forward to Max, who was mid-way into the Colts half. Max quickly received the ball, turned and played the ball forward again to Fraser who was on the left edge of the Colts penalty area. Fraser received the ball and took an immediate shot at goal, but as the Colts keeper scrambled across the goal to try and save it, the ball went just wide of the right post.

In the 18th minute, City opened their scoring account in the match. Colts had won a throw-in mid-way into the City half and on the right wing, Will intercepted the ball as it was thrown in and he passed the ball forward to Fraser who was in the centre circle. Fraser looked up and played a through ball up to Max who was making a run towards the Colts penalty area, Max ran onto the ball and made his way into the area before shooting low and left into the back of the Colts net (that was Max’s eighth goal of the season and Fraser’s fourth assist).

In the 20th minute, City created a goal scoring chance. From a City attack, Fraser had the ball in the middle of a crowded Colts penalty area. He took his shot at goal but for the second time in the half, his shot struck the crossbar and went out of play. It felt like it was only a matter of time before Fraser netted in the match.

Second Half
Buoyed on from the amount of chances that they had created in the first half, the City team went out hoping to improve on their goal tally.

In the 52nd minute, City created a goal scoring chance. City were attacking with Max in control of the ball in the centre circle, he made a run forward all the way to the edge of the Colts penalty area whilst being pursued by Colts defenders. As he reached the area he took a shot at goal but the Colts keeper managed to block it with his hands.

In the 58th minute, City scored another goal in the match. Colts had a goal kick and from the resultant pass out, Olly intercepted the ball just outside the area and on the right wing. He controlled the ball and passed it back to Arlo who was near the right corner of the penalty area. Arlo dribbled with the ball past a Colts defender and then played in a pass to Fraser who was a few metres out from the Colts goal. Fraser took a first time shot low into the middle of the Colts goal as their keeper attempted to close him down and block the shot (that was Fraser’s fifth goal of the season and Arlo’s fourth assist).

In the 60th minute, City scored another goal in the match. Colts had a goal kick and from the resultant pass out, Fraser intercepted the ball just outside the area. He controlled the ball and passed it across the top of the area to Max who took a shot from just inside the area which went into the bottom right corner of the Colts net (that was Max’s ninth goal of the season and Fraser’s fifth assist).

Well played Colts and good luck for the rest of the season. The match was watched by a couple of dozen respectful spectators who enjoyed a great game of football. All the City players put in great performances in the game but it was Max who was awarded player-of-the-match.

Thanks to all the City parents for their support on match day.
