Wilden Villages v Colts (1/02/20)

Colts lined up with Cam in Goal, Tom, Dyl and the returning Ollie at the back, George, Josh and Reggie in midfield and Connor and Harry up front. Ewan was nursing an injury which he unfortunately couldn’t shake off in the warm-up which left Nathan and Caleb as the only two starting from the bench.

The game started slowly, both teams having chances and both goalkeepers having to be smart early on. Cam continued his positive form of late with a confident first-half performance, and the returning Ollie put in an excellent display both with his defensive duties and going forward. Tom and Dyl both looked assured at the back, and even when some long balls threatened to catch them out, some impressive back-tracking cut out any threats early on. George, as industrious as ever put in some tireless work and Josh, operating in acres of room on the right flank had a superb game. Reggie on the other wing was having less joy in a more congested area but linked up well with the forwards on several occasions, and Both Harry and Conner looked likely to score throughout, without creating any solid chances. Conner did eventually break the deadlock, finishing off after his initial shot had slammed into the post after a delightful ball from George. And the ball over the top looked like it was going to be Colts most likely chance of success, however the home keeper was always alert to the threat.

Half time came and went with the second half being a completely different proposition. Colts looked knocked out of their stride and despite bringing Caleb and Nathan into the fray, found themselves inexplicably behind going into the last 10 minutes after a brace of scrappy goals took the game away from them.
