Worcester City FC - Walking Football - The Strollers
The Worcester City FC's walking football group was formed in late 2021 for over 50's. Most players, but not all, have played some competitive football and were keen to continue or restart. The group is for all ages (over 50 male and 35 female) and all abilities (we have a few underage players too). We are very eager for more, especially over 60's. We currently have 35 active members.
Worcester City Strollers finished third in their first season in the Birmingham County Walking Football League. Having played for a couple of seasons in friendlies and tournaments , and having reached the regional finals of the WFA national cup, City entered the Birmingham League.
Initially caught out by the pace and competitiveness of the league City took a few games to settle, relying on some excellent performances from goalkeeper Mark Hudson. Steve Kirby took early coaching sessions and the team turned the corner and slowly rose up the table and grabbed a third place finish in the First Division by the end of the season.
The Strollers now face a tough WFLA National Cup first round draw against Premier League Champions on Sunday 17th March
