Another weekend of Cup action as City take on Bridgnorth in the FA Vase
After last week’s late FA Cup drama, Chris Cornes will be hoping for the same outcome this weekend as City take on AFC Bridgnorth in the FA Vase at Claines Lane, kick-off 3pm.
After the disappointment of dropping points against the 10-men of Westfields midweek, The Faithful will be hoping for a quick return to winning ways against the Midland League Division One outfit. Our visitors currently sit in 10th place in their division after 5 games, most recently beating Wolverhampton Sporting Community 4-2 on Wednesday night.
A name that City fans will know well, Mark Danks, was on the scoresheet with a brace on Wednesday night, and we hope to welcome Mark on his return to City tomorrow.
Bridgnorth also faced off against Droitwich Spa last midweek, a game that finished 2-2. Danks on the scoresheet in that one, too.
Following more late drama at Claines Lane on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see how Chris’ team sets out on Saturday. Chris has made good use of his squad over the past few games, and additions such as Jamie Insall this week only strengthen his options, particularly in attack. Kirk Layton managed to get on the scoresheet again on Wednesday following his wonderful strike in the Cup last weekend, and fans have been impressed with the performances of Izak Reid and Dylan Hart in recent weeks, too. A good headache for the Manager to have.
We look forward to welcoming AFC Bridgnorth and their fans to Claines Lane on Saturday.
