It's familiar opposition for City this Tuesday evening as the come up against Westfields for the third time in the past month, this time in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup.
Having already faced Westfields in the FA Cup away in mid-August, in which City came through with a stoppage time winner, and then in the league just three days later where roles were reversed, and it was the visitors leaving with the win after a late goal, it's familiar setting for Manager Cornes, albeit against what may be a much-changed Westfields eleven.
Since that away victory over City on 22nd August, Westfields have won three out of their last four games in all competitions, but on Friday evening were beaten 3-2 at Slimbridge, and in the league are three points behind City having played the same amount of games, seven.
It remains to be seen what eleven The Faithful may see themselves on Tuesday evening, with players itching for a start in Cornes' in-form side. Elliott Hartley returned to the squad and impressed when coming on, his pressing work and effort to win the ball back particularly impressive to the City fans. James Batchelor was also a second half substitute, whilst Dylan Hart continues his recovery from a recent injury and may be included to gain minutes on the pitch ahead of some tough fixtures coming up.
After Tuesday night, City face higher-level opposition in Leek Town at home in the FA Cup, before a tricky away fixture at Hereford Lads Club next Tuesday evening.
City come into this one in excellent form, having won their last five games since that Westfields defeat, scoring 18 goals in the process. Even if it is a changed side that we see on Tuesday, there is nothing better than momentum, and Cornes will be looking to keep up that good run of form and positive atmosphere within his squad.
For those wishing to travel to the game, Westfields play at Allpay Park, Widemarsh Common, Hereford, HR4 9NA. Admission prices are Adults £8, OAP's & Concessions £6, and Children £1. Turnstiles are open from 6pm, and Westfields request that spectators be mindful of their local community when parking.
