After a rare weekend off due to Storm Babet and the impact on the Claines Lane pitch, a refreshed City head to Calne Town of the Hellenic League Division One on Tuesday evening in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup.
Our hosts for the evening currently sit in 9th place in Division One, with a record of 22 points from their 14 games played to date. On Saturday they overcame Long Crendon 2-1, and have won 5 of their last 6 games in all competitions.
After the weekend break City saw their lead at the top of the Premier Division table cut to three points following Corsham's win over Westfields, but now with two games in hand. Rotation is expected with the busy schedule and the re-arranged FA Vase tie taking place this coming Saturday, and also with Kyle Belmonte and Adam Mace suspended.
The Floodlit Cup gives manager Cornes a good opportunity to give minutes to his squad, having in recent weeks opted for a very similar starting line-up in the league. Cam Monteith and Lorcan Sheehan look likely to get minutes, and youngsters Reece Day and James Batchelor may also be looking for a start in this one. Batchelor hasn't featured since coming off injured against Westfields in the previous round.
The 10 day break since the last fixture away to Corsham will have also given the manager time to reflect on what has been an excellent start to the season for the club, having won 11 of the 13 league games so far, and only being knocked out of the FA Cup to date.
For The Faithful making the trip to Wiltshire this evening, Calne Town play at Bremhill View, Calne, SN11 9EE. Tickets are priced at £6 for Adults and £3 for Concessions.
