No time to rest for the City Boys as preparations turn to a Worcestershire Senior Cup fixture with Droitwich Spa on Tuesday evening, a 7.45pm kick-off at King George Playing Fields.

There are few in the Worcester ranks who were involved in last season's disastrous 3-0 defeat in the same competition to Tuesday's hosts, but plenty of The Faithful will be in attendance hoping that demons can be put to rest from that nightmare evening. That result spelled the end of the short reign of Graham Deakin at the club, following joint manager Keenen Meakin-Richards' departure the previous weekend.

Following that fateful evening last October, Chris Cornes was appointed after Stewart Watkins' spell as Caretaker Manager and guided City to Midland Premier League safety. This season it is a different story, with City top of the Hellenic League and still competing in three cup competitions.

Droitwich, meanwhile, after progressing past City, went on to beat Bewdley Town convincingly away from home, before edging out Pershore Town on penalties in the Quarter Final of last year's competition. In the Semi's they were beaten 2-0 by Stourport Swifts, who went on to win the competition, beating Redditch United in the Final. Droitwich's season would end in heart-breaking fashion, conceding a last minute winner in the Midland League Division One Play-off Final to Ashby Ivanhoe, losing 2-1 on the day.

This season Droitwich currently sit in second place in their league table, one point behind leaders Hinckley AFC but with a game in hand on their title rivals. This weekend they drew 1-1 with mid-table Nuneaton Griff.

City made it 10 wins in a row in all competitions on Saturday as they convincingly made it past Wolverhampton Casuals in the FA Vase Second Round, moving closer to the club's all-time record winning streak in all competitions of 14 straight wins between March and April 1977. Manager Cornes will be keen to ensure that this potential banana skin cup tie is side-stepped on Tuesday evening, and he has continued to field strong sides in all cup matches so far this season.

Liam Lockett, Dylan Hart and Jamie Insall did the business on Saturday, as City controlled the match from start to finish on a terrible surface. Robbie Thompson-Brown came into the starting line-up in place of the suspended Kyle Belmonte, with the majority of the side business as usual. It will be interesting to see what, if any, possible rotations Cornes makes ahead of a weekend league fixture against third placed Royal Wootton Bassett.

Tuesday's cup clash is an all-ticket fixture with a sell-out expected. No tickets will be available for purchase at the ground and City fans can purchase their tickets in advance here. On the evening, Droitwich have two bars, a burger van and a tea hut available for spectators. Tickets are priced at £7.50 for Adults and £5 for Concessions.
