Worcester City travels to the Marks Electrical Arena on Tuesday evening to take on Anstey Nomads in their promotion play-off Semi-Final, which kicks off at 7:45 p.m.
This game will serve as the rubber match between the two sides, with each team currently having one win apiece after the regular season. Both teams won their home games, with Worcester victorious 4-1 at Claines Lane back in August and Anstey winning 2-1 in March.
It was a positive end to the league campaign for Chris Cornes’ men, winning their last two games to finish 4th, ensuring they made it into the play-offs and maintained momentum, signing off from Claines Lane with a 2-0 victory over Loughborough Students. The Blue and Whites also lifted the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup earlier this month, beating higher-ranked Alvechurch in the final.
Anstey Nomads finished a place higher, and 7 points better off than Worcester in 3rd in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division. The Nomads finished the season in fine form, having not lost a league game since 22nd February. They will be a tough test at the Marks Electrical Arena, being undefeated at home in 7 matches, and having won their final home game of the league season 4-0 against Hinckley LRFC. The weekend saw a much-changed Nomads side draw 1-1 away at Coventry Sphinx, with them having one eye on the playoffs.
The winner of this game will advance into the play-off final and will take on the winner of Corby Town vs Long Eaton United, which will be kicking off at the same time.
Anstey Nomads play at Mark’s Electrical Arena, Cropston Road, Anstey, Leicestershire, LE7 7BP.
Ticket prices: Adults £10, Concessions £6 and Under 16s £2.
Anstey Nomads have requested that City supporters use the correct cash, to speed up entry to the ground, in what looks set to be a big crowd in attendance.
