It's another midweek trip to Gloucester for The City as Chris Cornes' side take on Lydney Town in August's re-arranged fixture.
Tuesday evening's fixture is one of City's two games in hand on the sides around them at the top of the table, and a chance to put points between them the likes of Corsham at the summit for the first time this season.
Our hosts are currently sat 18th in the league table, but have won two of their last four games including Saturday's 2-0 home victory over Royal Wootton Bassett Town. City meanwhile, as mentioned, have moved to the top of the league on goal difference following Saturday's 3-0 win over Brimscombe & Thrupp.
As announced yesterday, City have re-signed local midfielder Brad Birch as another option in that department, as we head into a busy autumn and winter schedule. Brad previously captained City but the former Halesowen and Bromsgrove Sporting man has been without a club since the end of last season, after declaring his retirement from football. It seems though that the lure of playing for Chris Cornes' side, and linking up with a number of former teammates including Jamie Insall was too good to turn down. Birch will no doubt receive a warm welcome back to the club from the travelling Faithful if in the squad on Tuesday.
The signing has been seen as fantastic news by many and bolstering the manager's options in the squad. Fans will have noted Connor Gater's return on Saturday, if only to the pre-match squad and being put through his paces ahead of the game, but more positive news for Cornes' side.
Following his goal on Saturday, City's Liam Lockett has moved to the top of the Hellenic League scoring charts with 11 goals. He's followed closely by Kyle Belmonte and Jamie Insall, both with 10 goals, who are tied for second place with another two players.
Lockett was also awarded the Man of the Match award on Saturday for another brilliant display, one of a number to impress. Logan Stoddart put in a fantastic performance at right back, delivering almost inch-perfect cross after cross into the Brimscombe penalty area, and Jamie Insall did all but get himself on the scoresheet, and was somewhat unlucky to see a fine header ruled out for a foul.
We haven't seen Cornes rotate too much in recent weeks, but with the weekend trip to Corsham Town in City's sights, and important players returning needing match fitness, it will be interesting to see the line-up he may opt for from the start.
Tuesday's game will be played at Lydney Recreation Ground, Swan Road, Lydney. Post code is GL15 5RU. Tickets are priced at £6 for Adults and £3 Concessions. Parking is available on site, according to Lydney's official Twitter (X) page.
