City return to league action for the first time in two weeks when they face Quorn on Saturday afternoon, a 3pm kick off at Claines Lane.
It has been a tough couple of weeks for Chris Cornes and his City side. Following a first league defeat in over 12 months against top of the table Corby at the end of August, City then fell to defeat in their next fixture versus Hinckley LR in the FA Trophy last Saturday. They did, however, manage to get back to winning ways this midweek, overcoming Sporting Club Inkberrow 4-0, a result that will have boosted morale within the squad.
Cornes has built a squad over the past 12 months that have shown their resilience and adaptability, and the City Faithful can be sure to see a much improved and determined line up on Saturday. He will no doubt be pleased with the character shown in midweek, with Kyle Belmonte setting City on their way with a brace, Elliott Hartley chipping in with another return after a fine start to the season, and Logan Stoddart getting his first of the campaign.
Hayden Reeves looks set to return to league action following his second yellow and subsequent red card in the defeat to Corby, after featuring against SC Inkberrow in midweek.
Despite having not featured in league action for two weeks, City still occupy second spot in the table behind Corby, with Quorn two places behind in fourth, although they have played a game fewer and are still unbeaten in the league this season. Quorn have picked up two wins and two draws from their four fixtures so far.
Our visitors on Saturday overcame Racing Club Warwick 2-0 in their last league match, following a previous 0-0 draw with Anstey Nomads. Like City, they were however dumped out of the FA Trophy last weekend, suffering a 4-1 defeat to Hednesford Town.
Paddy Webb looks to be the danger man and the one for City fans to keep an eye on this weekend, having notched six goals already this campaign.
This Saturday also marks the club’s Youth Day for 2024/25, where all members of our Youth Section are invited to join us for the afternoon and get a group photograph on the pitch at half time.
We are delighted to also welcome Chambers Construction as our Match Sponsors on Saturday, as well as many of our other club sponsors who join us for the afternoon in Matchday Hospitality.
Please note that on site parking at Claines Lane is now SOLD OUT. Parking will be available at nearby River School and RGS The Grange, so the cash payable on entry.
