Worcester City welcome AFC Rushden & Diamonds to Claines Lane on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off.
It was over two decades ago since City last played Rushden & Diamonds, in the first round of the 2001 FA Cup. That day a brilliant free kick from Rushden’s Richie Hanlon was enough to knock the Blue and Whites out of the competition.
The Blue And Whites will be hoping to pick up the 3 points on offer to start another period of good form after last week’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Bedworth United, which ended a run of seven wins from seven games.
Rushden & Diamonds find themselves mid-table in 11th as the halfway point of the season approaches. They are winless in their last two games and have won only once on the road this season, so will be looking to turn that form around.
City are currently third in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division and a win could potentially take Chris Cornes’ men level on points with second-placed Corby Town, should they lose to Sutton Coldfield Town this weekend. Three points would also help City to maintain a healthy points gap over Sporting Khalsa, who have three games in hand.
The Blue And Whites are still without midfield pair Calvin Dinsley and Izak Reid through injury.
All, Claines Lane (pre-book only), The River School and RGS The Grange car parks are available for the fixture.
Match tickets are on sale now: Adult £12, Concession £8, Youth (12-17) £5 and under 12 £3
Hospitality packages for this fixture are also available to purchase.
