City travel to the Dog & Duck Ground to face Wellingborough Town for a 7:45pm kick off in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division this evening.
The last meeting between the two sides came in the 2022/23 season in the FA Vase first round, where City suffered a 0-1 home defeat.
Wellingborough Town have started the season brightly and are currently knocking on the door of the playoff places in 7th with 22 points to-date, four places behind City who sit in 3rd. The hosts have not tasted defeat in four league games, most recently drawing 2-2 with Darlaston Town on Saturday. They were, however, resoundingly beaten 4-0 by Corby Town last week in Northampton County Cup action. Wellingborough’s last league loss came in a 1-2 home defeat to Sporting Khalsa back on the 15th October, who were also the last team to beat City.
City will be hoping to continue to build momentum following Saturday’s dramatic 92nd minute winner against Coleshill by making it two away wins in a row for the first time this season. Both Quorn and Corby Town sit out of this evening’s fixtures, so The Blue And Whites will be looking to close the gap at the top.
Also in league action this evening are Saturday’s opponents, Coventry Sphinx, who make the trip to Anstey Nomads. Elsewhere, Hinckley host Rushden & Diamonds and Sporting Khalsa host Sutton Coldfield Town.
Safe travels to The Faithful who are making the trip to Northamptonshire this evening.
